Job Description

JOB TITLE: 1st Team Performance Analyst

DEPARTMENT:  Sporting 

LOCATION:  CFA New York (Orangeburg, NY)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The 1st Team Performance Analyst is a critical support role within our team's sporting operations department. This role will assist the performance analysis team in gathering and organizing data, managing video analysis software, and providing valuable insights to enhance team performance. The 1st Team Performance Analyst will play an essential role in facilitating the overall success of the team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Video Analysis Support

  • Assist in the recording and collection of match footage and training sessions.
  • Help with video analysis tasks, including tagging and cataloging video clips.
  • Collaborate with the performance analysis team to ensure smooth video analysis processes.

Opponent Scouting Assistance

  • Support the performance analysis team in opposition scouting activities, including data collection and video analysis.
  • Assist in preparing scouting reports and presentations for coaching staff and players.

Player Individual Development Plans

  • Assist coaching staff in identifying areas for player improvement.
  • Prepare video clips and presentations to provide constructive feedback to individual players.

Data Collection and Management

  • Assist in collecting and organizing data related to player performance and match statistics.
  • Maintain databases and performance-related records.
  • Ensure data accuracy and completeness.

Technology Management

  • Maintain and update video analysis software and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and coordinate repairs or upgrades as needed.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with the performance analysis team, coaching staff, and players to provide timely support and assistance.
  • Assist in delivering video presentations and reports to players and coaches.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • 4+ years of work experience as a Performance Analyst at a professional soccer organization
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey messages to colleagues, coaches and players.
  • An enthusiastic approach and proactive attitude.
  • Must have exceptional knowledge of soccer – either as former player, coach or similar.
  • Must have good computer literacy skills and able to assimilate new software processes quickly.
  • Dominance of major video tagging platforms (Hudl Sportscode, SBG MatchTracker, etc.) and telestration tools (Hudl Studio, CoachPaint, Piero, etc.).
  • Experience with Microsoft software (Excel, Powerpoint) is required, while experience with data visualization software (Tableau, Power BI), video editing software (Final Cut Pro. Adobe Suite), and Mac software (Keynote, iBooks Author) is strongly preferred.
  • Must have experience filming sporting events from a coaching perspective.
  • Certifications and experience flying drones preferred.
  • Have flexibility to work differing hours on a weekly basis (including evening and weekends) and travel in accordance with competition schedules.
  • Good time management skills – ability to manage workload, set deadlines and priorities.
  • Excellent in a group working environment with strong communication skills

  • Dedication to the role and the extra hours needed outside a standard working day.

  • NYCFC Head of Performance Analysis on day-to-day-basis.
  • NYCFC First Team Coaching Staff on day-to-day basis.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicant must be able to comply with MLS Next Safety and Well-Being policy and any other applicable child safety policies provided to applicants by NYCFC
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as necessary

COMPENSATION:

This exempt position has an estimated annual base salary range of $65,000 to $75,000. Final compensation offer amounts are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors such as certifications and software expertise.
