JOB SUMMARY:
To provide educational services through creative, caring, and integrated methods that maximize students' intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development. Also, to provide an educational setting for youth, ensuring the culture is consistent with trauma-sensitive, family-focused, community-based, and best practice principles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Share a commitment to the success of Lad Lake's mission, goals, and objectives.
- Foster an educational environment conducive to learning.
- Plan instructional programs designed to meet individual student needs and whole groups, which may include traumatized or special-needs youth.
- Develop a culturally sensitive curriculum.
- Prepare lesson plans.
- Participate in developing and monitoring student education plans.
- Use necessary and appropriate instructional methods and materials suited to the student's well-being and the nature of the learning activities.
- Establish and implement classroom policies and procedures governing student behavior and conduct in a positive and supportive manner; provide guidance, counseling, and discipline to encourage students to meet standards of achievement and conduct; and make referrals for assistance where appropriate.
- Confer with students, parents or guardians, and other staff, maintaining an open positive relationship to provide guidance and evaluation and encourage student achievement. Regular in-person attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Maintain up-to-date grades and student academic evaluations.
- Ensure that performance management, risk reduction, quality improvement, and contract or regulatory compliance are managed using an inclusive and data-driven focus that sets priorities for improvements aligned with ongoing strategic initiatives and has a measurable impact on outcomes.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Wisconsin teaching certificate or a substitute license.preferred
- Licensed Areas: Math
- Previous experience working with emotionally and behaviorally disabled (EBD) students or vulnerable adolescent populations. 2 to 3 years of successful classroom behavior management experience.
- Must deal with students positively and confidently; be equitable when working with a culturally, racially, and economically diverse student population.
- Able to adapt to change, be flexible, and be confident.
- Must possess strong organizational skills, effective behavior management techniques, and exhibit good judgment.
