Position Description: The IT Release Manager and DR Coordinator oversees the planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution of software releases for complex, multi-module platforms. Additionally, this role will be required to assist with setting up and monitoring a Disaster Recovery program. As the release manager this role ensures that updates, patches, change requests and new features across various integrated modules are deployed efficiently and meet quality standards. The Release Manager collaborates with development, QA, and operations teams to streamline release processes, manage dependencies, mitigate risks, and ensure seamless communication between stakeholders. The position also focuses on driving improvements in release methodologies to support business objectives and operational excellence. As the DR coordinator the role will ensure DR programs are established by module vendors for the applications they deploy and support. This role will: Work with various module vendors simultaneously ensuring a smooth transition of updated and new systems, applications, or services from the development to the production environment. Implement and manage release processes from development/test through production environments. Manage/plan team testing schedules across environments and module vendors. Track progress of testing vs schedules in test environments. Create plans and schedules for the implementation and deployment of features, bug fixes, incidents, and changes across all environments. Identify and manage risk, dependencies and communicate them to stakeholders. Develop mitigation/contingency plans for discovered risks. Coordinate releases with internal and external teams coordinate release readiness and Go/no-Go reviews. Communicate release status to stakeholders. Develop reports providing visibility into timelines, status and quality of releases. Ensure that the vendors only release thoroughly tested and approved changes and preserves the integrity and consistency of the live environment. Ensure module vendors Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP) align with the Agency s plans. Direct the creation of the MES program Disaster Recovery methodology and plan. Conduct a business impact analysis to include estimating achievable downtime objectives, recovery time objectives and desired recovery time objectives.
Skills Required: Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and release management processes for multi-module platforms. Proficiency in managing interdependencies across multiple platform modules during releases. Exceptional coordination and organizational skills to manage multiple releases simultaneously. Strong problem-solving and risk management skills to identify, address, and mitigate release-related issues. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Proficient understanding of ITIL Release Management Methodology Expert knowledge of IT best practices, policies and regulations Ability to translate technical jargon for non-technical audiences. Effectively communicate between stakeholders, developers, testers, project managers, program managers and executives Demonstrate ability to orchestrate and design a disaster recovery plan (DRP) Ability to define recovery timelines for critical systems Ability to create an incident response plan for recovery of critical IT applications/systems
Skills Preferred: Hands-on experience with release management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira). Working understanding of ITIL processes and frameworks. Familiarity with agile project management methodologies and tools. Analytical skills for assessing platform performance and optimizing integrated release processes.
Experience Required: 5+ years of work experience with New Product releases or related background working in IT environment (both development and production). Risk Management and Mitigation Demonstrated experience managing software releases in a multiple-module platform environment. Demonstrated experience orchestrating the creation of a Disaster Recovery Plan for a software development program or system. Deployment Strategies and executing release windows and cycles. Proven success in coordinating interdependencies across integrated systems and applications. 2+ years of work with Change Management, Incidents and CAB processes and procedures. Process driven with the ability to work independently to strategize solutions.
